You don't need your phone to control the gloves (mittens) once you've connected them to the app…the gloves know when your hand is inside and turns on. Brilliant and the heat is just right.

    Mar 13, 2023

I have what I believe to be Reynauds (fingers and toes lose feeling VERY quickly when cold and go numb and white), I have been on th ehunt for somethign to help me for many many years (the hot pack inserts, warmer gloves etc) - these have saved me!! I have worn them in multiple instances where I know my fingers would have gone numb and they kep my hands nice and toasty. I would recommoned these to anyone who struggles like me!

    Best Heated Mittens Ever
    Dec 7, 2022

Amazing! Once you set them up using the Bluetooth App Clim8 you will find that they keep your hands perfectly comfortable regardless of outside temperature. I would say that when using these it needs to be at least down in the thirties or below to utilize and fully appreciate these mittens. Otherwise, you might find your hands to be too warm when on long hikes. Since they regulate the heat so well and keep your hands evenly warm, you end up using very little battery power. I have mine set at 68 degrees. Honestly, I am blown away and extremely happy with these mittens. I am wearing them at every opportunity. Charging is very easy, batteries fit perfectly, and the quality of the gloves is exceptional. I have recommended these to many others already as these truly eliminate the issue of cold hands. The only issue I have at this time is the IOS APP has some sort of an issue where it runs the battery down on the iPhone due to background mode. I expect they will fix it. For now, I have turned off Background App Refresh to avoid this issue. I look forward to a fix where I can simply shut it off for the Clilm8 App only. Be aware of this issue. However, I remain blown away and happy with this purchase. If you have cold hands you might even want to wear these around the house!

    Pretty good so far.
    Nov 25, 2025

Bought these in the fall, and haven't used them yet for skiing, but got to try them out watching the Bears win on a last-second field goal, so 4 hours sitting/standing in 35 degree snow showers with 15-20 mph winds. They worked perfectly. Unlike many existing heated gloves/mittens, you use the included app to set exactly the temp you want. These are my first heated mittens, so I can only compare them to 2 of my ski buddies that have had other brands over the years. Their versions have Off/Low/Medium/High settings that cycle with a button-push on the cuff of the mittens, so they don't have to pull out their phone to adjust them, but their options are limited, and they have to change settings as conditions change. The reason for only four stars is that the gloves are bit heavy and clunky. They are lined with insulation and a thin fleece, but aren't remotely as soft and pillowy as the Head down mittens I've been using for years, and they weigh about 4 times as much. I suppose the leather on these will outlast the coated nylon on the 15 year-old Heads which started delaminating a couple years ago, but I'd be shocked if the heating mechanism lasts that long. I'm going to keep these and we'll see how well these work through the winter ski season., but I'm guessing when these quit, I'll go back to something softer and suppler plus a rechargeable hand warmer.

    Looking forward to trying them
    Oct 28, 2025

Just received and will use them for skiing and ski instruction this winter. They are quite bulky and appear to be of high quality. App control is nice but would like to also control from glove. Reviews aren't favorable but price was reasonable even if they don't last too long. We'll see. 4 stars because haven't tried them yet in real conditions and concerns about product life.

I've used the mittens twice so far. The only issue I have had is that sometimes one of the mittens doesn't sense that my hand is inside and shuts off.

Runs small, order a size larger
    Nov 20, 2023

I have incredibly cold hands, probably Raynauds, so was excited to see these mittens on sale for a very good price since I have to wear mittens rather than gloves while skiing, and usually with chemical heater packs in my mittens if the temperature is below 15-20 degrees. The description says "These mittens feature a performance fit ... Please refer to the size chart to get the best fit." I normally wear a Large, but followed their advice and measured my hands. 8.25" long and 8.5" circumference. The size chart says Large: 8-8.5" long and 9-9.5" circumference. I was clearly in the Large size range so that's what I ordered. They were too small. I returned them and reordered the X-Large which the size chart says is 8.5-9" long and 9.5-10" circumference. I just received them today. The X-Large fits pretty good but my fingers do still hit the end and the circumference is still snug. I can't ball up my hand in the mitten like I usually do to re-warm my fingers but hopefully won't have to since these are heated mittens. Bottom line: These mittens run small so order a size up. The mittens appear to be good quality so I dropped one star for the size issue. I hope to give them a real world test soon if we ever get some snow! I also ordered a spare set of batteries. The mitten comes with 2000 mAh batteries but I wanted the 3000 mAh battery (which comes with the Smart Heated Gloves) since I assumed the higher capacity would last longer and get me through a complete ski day if the temperature was very cold. Eddie Bauer said No, the 3000 mAh battery has a higher output wattage so they recommended sticking with the 2000 mAh battery. However, on the Clim8 website it says the batteries are interchangeable so I contacted Clim8 and their engineers confirmed that even though the 3000 mAh battery has higher output wattage than the 2000 mAh battery (22.2 W vs 14.8 W), the 3000 mAh battery would be fine to use with the Eddie Bauer Guide Pro Smart Heated Mitten. Clim8 said they'd contact Eddie Bauer to let them know that.

    Almost there
    Feb 2, 2023

I had high hopes for the Eddie Bauer heated gloves/mittens. I actually had the gloves first but returned them as the fit around each finger was too tight. The mittens fit a little better but there's no way I can wear a liner glove under them. I have other medium mittens from other brands and the EB mitts are much smaller. I really dislike the battery placement. It's bulky and right on the wrists. I usually like to have the cuff of my mittens go over the cuff of my jacket, with these mittens there's no way I can do that. And controlling the temp via an app is a neat idea but poor in reality. You can only set one temp for the mitts so if you need to lower or raise the temp you need to use the app. And you have to take the mitt off to use your phone. I wish there was a small button to push that would swap between 2 or 3 preset temps. It is cool how the mitts start heating as soon as you put your hand in and turn off automatically once hand is removed.

    Needs improvement
    Jan 8, 2023

I was very hopeful for these mittens. I tried them in temperatures ranging from 10F to -40F. I used them when walking and winter biking. The Clima8 feedback to personalize when they come on is unique and promising. I experienced the gloves being "on" (i.e., light indicator) my hands were cold, within the app it indicated a temperature of 52F inside the mitten and the heating element within the mittens wouldn't turn on. In addition, the connection from battery to mitten in one of the them didn't always work. The app drained the phone battery if left on - developers of the app are apparently aware of this but haven't fixed it yet. I hope EB will continue to work on this product, with improvement it has great potential.

Needs an app that doesn't work
    Dec 27, 2022

Bought these as a Christmas gift. After 3 days of fighting with the poorly designed app, I have given up. The mittens seem to be nice, with quality materials used. But the heating system needs an app that has not worked on 4 different phones. A simple ON/OFF switch would have been a much better system. Thankfully this was a learning experience and I will avoid all Clim8 products in the future.

Excellent concept - my hands are always cold when skiing so thought that this would be a good investment. Price was cheaper than some other brands on the market. However, battery sits on inside of wrist and is heavy/bulky making mitt uncomfortable. As such, returned item.

I thougt FIrst Ascent products were covered for life
    Jan 28, 2025

Eddie Bauer Clim8 heated gloves are nice until the zipper pull broke. Now they are a pain to use. I buy Ascent products for the warrenty but now EB tells me the warranty in only 60 days. When was this policy changed?? SO no I do not recommend these gloves anymore and I'm a litttle annoyed at EB for pulling the rug out from under loyal users of EB products. Sad day Eddie. I bought these gloves at the full price last December. Who owns this company Now??

These mittens were great for 1 season but heating elements failed early in 2nd season and I am told they are no longer under warranty. They are warm enough with mild temperatures but I need the heat.

My 3rd replacement pair just broke
    Jan 20, 2024

Wondering if anyone has actually had a pair of these gloves that lasts more than 1-2 months. I have been very careful with them. Should I go for a 4th replacement pair. The gloves are great when they work. But it's incredibly inconvenient to be without gloves for 2 weeks while I wait for the replacement
